Marxist scientists

The essay "The social and economic roots of Newton’s Principia", by B. Hessen, made another major contribution to science: the insistence on the social significance of science, the need to plan its development, and the role of the scientist in doing so.

Our new culture, stated the famous British mathematician Professor Whitehead in a recent book Science and Civilization, owes its development to the fact that Newton was born in the same year that Galileo died. Just think what the course of human history would have been if these two men had not appeared in the world.
